RUCPAC Demands Immediate Resignation of Senate Minority Leader, Tim Knopp, for Acts of ‘Controlled Opposition.’
Accuses Knopp of Acts of Controlled Opposition in advancing House Bills 2002 and 2005, while simultaneously eliminating all 13 Republican senators in Oregon.
Salem, Ore. – Today, The Republican Unity Caucus has officially demanded the immediate resignation of Republican Senate Minority Leader Tim Knopp for his handling of the 2023 regular session walkout. The Caucus takes the position that Tim Knopp acted in conscious effort to eliminate all 13 conservative senators and pass anti-constitutional house bills 2002 and 2005. The Republican Unity Caucus Press Secretary, Ben Edtl issued the following the statement:
“Knopp has known he is highly unlikely to win re-election in his district. It’s widely known at the Capitol that Knopp made a backroom deal with Progressive Senate President Rob Wagner. Knopp was promised appointment to the State Communications Board, which pays roughly $250K per year with lifetime PERS and money for his district in exchange for returning to session to pass the bills without securing excused status from Wagner for the absences.”
“While the Leadership Caucus issued a press release upon their return stating “a victory,” there was no material change to the bills. Knopp didn’t just backstab all the members of his caucus, he betrayed more than a million Oregonians that elected them for representation in Salem.”
The RUCPAC believes that legislative minority and majority leaders should be staunch advocates for grassroots party interests. But Minority Leader Tim Knopp is only motivated by self-interests.
