Portland has become the laughingstock of the nation but this is no laughing matter. Portland is grappling with a humanitarian crisis of crime, death and despair. It all started when city leaders began labeling all police officers as racist before slashing their budgets, restricting their ability to control riots and make arrests. Then reinstituted the great inquisition; running private background checks to determine what police officers had a history of being “racist” (in their opinion). Nearly every officer in Portland has been dragged before a Marxist panel of police hating overseers whenever involved in a day-to-day police encounter. Everyone knows what will happen when you treat police like criminals and the criminals like victims: crime multiplies. But city leaders aren’t fully to blame. For the most part, city leaders have simply carried out state law engineered by Progressive lawmakers representing Portland house districts. Laws that required “racism” background checks on all police officers in the state. Laws that eliminated cash bail requirements for violent criminals. Laws that prevent courts from forcing drug offenders into treatment. Laws that legalized possession and public consumption of hard drugs. Laws that made it legal to “refuse the order of a police officer.” And while they passed laws preventing the public release of criminal mug shots, they forced police officers to wear identification during a riot.
